Urban Design Lab Handbook

— Contributor

Between 2013 and 2018, the Urban Design Lab worked in over twenty emerging cities in Latin America and the Caribbean, developing planning tools to trigger transformative urban processes by engaging and empowering local communities. This handbook explains the context and emerging problems faced by cities in the region, and proposes solutions for typical difficulties encountered within those urban conglomerations. Reflecting on the experiences of Urban-Think Tank in Colombia, I contributed, with Alfredo Brillembourg, Hubert Klumpner, and Diego Ceresuela, a guest chapter entitled ‘Culture as an Incubator for Urban Transformation’. The essay explores how cultural infrastructure can act as a catalyst for processes of integration and reconciliation.

The publication also includes contributions from Rahul Mehrotra, Charles Waldheim, and Andreas Hofer.
