Complex Buildings: Generators, Linkers, Mixers & Storytellers

— Contributor

Founded in 1994, a+t Architecture Publishers is a Spanish editorial company that publishes both the biannual a+t magazine, as well as a growing catalogue of books, organized in a sequence of thematic series. For the first instalment in a new series focused on 'Complex Buildings', I contributed, with Alfredo Brillembourg, Hubert Klumpner, and Diego Ceresuela, an essay entitled 'A Building is Not a Butterfly: Culture and Complexity'. The piece explores the idea of designing for complexity through a focus on Urban-Think Tank's two 'Fábrica de Cultura' projects in Barranquilla, Colombia, and São Paulo, Brazil, in the context of a vision of the city as one giant culture factory.

This issue of the magazine also includes contributions from MAIO, Bruther, Studio Muoto, and Dominic Leong.
